General accessibility

There are a number of features which have been introduced to make this site more accessible.

The site design is based around the use of style sheets which separate out content from design.  This allows for more control over resizing fonts and scaling pages to be easily read.

Some aids have been introduced on the top right of each page which allow for the font sizes on the page to be increased or reduced as required.  Also, there are options to revert to default settings and to apply fluid or fixed widths to pages to assist with resizing content.

Standards compliance

Where possible, pages within the site will be made to comply with the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Priority Level A guideline, with a continuous commitment to progress to level AA.

Text

Use of text
Where possible, and without compromising design, text has been used instead of images on this website. Navigation, page titles and subtitles, links and other elements have all been created using accessible html text.

Text Size
To allow full user control over how text appears on screen, this site has been created using relative text sizes and these sizes may be scaled up or down by clicking on the icons on the top right of each screen

Contrast and colour

Contrast
The site has been tested to ensure that pages provide sufficient contrast when viewed by users with colour blindness or when viewed on a black and white screen.

Colour
No information is conveyed through colour alone. Links are consistently blue in colour throughout the site, and are underlined.

Alternate text
All content images should include descriptive ALT text attributes.
