These indicators provide a measure of achievement for pupils at higher levels of attainment, for all pupils and for those from more deprived areas

Why do we measure this?

A key stage of the education journey for Scottish students is their performance in their senior phase of secondary school. In comparing the achievement levels of young people councils can share good practice to aid improvement across all council’s areas.

An outcome consistently included at both the national and local level across the UK is the desire to increase the educational attainment of children from deprived backgrounds. Therefore, as well as benchmarking the attainment of all school children, it is important to measure the attainment of this sub group of pupils who live in deprived areas.
