NEWS
Single Outcome Agreement - Guidance, Format and Indicators Package issued
COSLA issues the Single Outcome Agreements Package which provides guidance, format and indicators to support Local Government in Scotland in developing their SOAs.
Potential for common customer satisfaction measures to be explored
IS and the Scottish Consumer Council to gauge need and appetite for a common method of measuring customer satisfaction with local government.
A review of UK and international public sector performance measures and approaches
The Improvement Service commissioned a report that provides a review of UK and international public sector performance management frameworks and indicators and highlights innovation from across the world.
Government issues response to Crerar
The Scottish Government has announced that it will work with Parliament and others to refocus the scrutiny of public services in Scotland in its published response to the Crerar review.
OneScotland Portal information published
Information and papers related to the OneScotland Portal, which will provide a single access point to Scottish public services, have been published by the Scottish Government.
Consultation on continuous professional development framework for councillors
The IS is consulting on a draft CPD framework for elected members in Scottish local government.
National CRM - Building for Success
An Away Day for the National CRM Project was held over 21st - 22nd January 2008. The event is one of a number of planned activities to help deliver an effective partnership nationally that supports and complements local delivery.
New SCF paper on public service reform
Scottish Council Foundation looks at how the debate about the future of public service reform (PSR) is shaping up, what the issues are and the extent to which they mark a break or shift from the last 10 years
Analysis, Intelligence and Research community of practice collaboration space live
A collaboration space for the local government analysis, intelligence and research community of practice has gone live on the Improvement Service website.
Diagnostic Pathway Update, January 2008
Early 2008 will witness a flurry of activity in councils as all Diagnostic Project Teams will undergo their initial data gathering exercises with support from the Shared Services Team at the Improvement Service.
First national community planning conference materials available
Discussions, papers and presentations from the first national Community Planning Conference, 'Community Planning - Delivering the Benefits', are now online.
EVENTS
Public Service Improvement Framework Open Event - 19 March 2008, Glasgow
This event will provide an opportunity to share the experiences and outcomes from Phase One with the organisations who took part, hear how PSIF provides an excellent and robust model for self-assessment, demonstrate how it will contribute to the delivery of improved services and the plan to take PSIF forward.
Scotland Conference 2008 - 21 May 2008, Edinburgh
The Improvement Service is one of the organisations supporting Scotland 08. This Conference will provide an opportunity to make a first assessment of the priorities of the Scottish Government and consider how they will take forward their key strategic objectives. Participants will receive guidance on the latest strategic and policy developments and discuss the challenges that departments and organisations face to meet the targets set out in the public sector reform agenda, that ultimately contribute to the achievement of the Government's ambitions for sustainable growth and national prosperity.
