Performance Management Software 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I'm interested to find out what Corporate Performance Management Software other Local Authorities are currently using.

I'm specifically interested to find out if anyone is using the Microsoft Business Intelligence platform or Business Scorecard Manager (or are looking into the new PerformancePoint Server application)

We've already spoken to Renfrewshire and West Lothian about Covalent and South Lanarkshire about Corvu so we're more interested in other products.

many thanks,
Charles

Hi Charles,

The London Project and Programme Management Forum on IDEA's COP site are discussing this topic:
http://www.communities.idea.gov.uk/home.do

Be worth signing up to COP and asking to join that forum. There's some mmaterial on who's using which package.

Mick

Thanks for responding Mick.

I also posted a similar request on the IDeA Website and I've found that post much more effective than this one.

From the IDeA post I've found out information from various councils on the systems they've procured, how they find them and I even managed to get six System Specification documents from English colleagues which will help us when we're looking to procure a system.

Many thanks for responding, much appreciated.

Regards,
Charles.

Charles. I assume when you were on the IDeA, you saw this huge string of replies on a similar topic: http://www.idea.gov.uk/idk/forum/thread-maint.do?topicId=6595526&mode=c

I am doing some work with the JIT on supporting outcomes based partnership performance management and I am particularly interested to know what systems are being used effectively across partnerships to integrate different agencies' PM info. Did you pick up on anything which would be helpful from Scottish authorities?

Thanks in anticipation

Margot

Margot,

our main focus is on integrating our various reporting frameworks and we're certainly looking to track outcome based indicators within the community plan through whatever software we procure but we're not yet in a position to offer any advice.

Through our research we spoke to colleagues in both Renfrewshire and West Lothian Council who were both using tracking systems to monitor their plans.

It may be worth your while contacting them.

Regards,
Charles.

You might find the following list useful:
http://www.brent.gov.uk/egr.nsf/SCVLAbyProdType?OpenForm&Category=Performance+Management

In our experience you will find significant variation in capabilities, particularly in relation to the Business Intelligence and reporting. Some will be a lot more capable than others, hence price variations. We would also encourage you to consider how you hook these systems into other backend business systems - again there is significant variation in capabilities in this area. You really want your PMS to be able to pull data from a wide range of core business systems, both strategic and operational, with minimal manual intervention.

We provide solutions for sharing performance outcomes that are geographically disaggregated - they tend to focus at helping users understand spatial patterns and temporal trends. Our products can be integrated to mainstream performance management tools listed above. They are being used in performance and intelligence areas in authorities like Fife and West Lothian.

We also have an innovative performance profile scorecard that can be driven from a third party database or simple spreadsheet - you can read more about this at http://www.instantatlas.com/downloads/IAperformanceprofile.pdf.
