Last year, the Scottish Urban Regeneration Forum (SURF) hosted a successful conference on "Football and Regeneration" that focused on the shared goals for Scotland's professional football clubs and regeneration sectors and featured input from Gordon Smith of the SFA, Lex Gold of the SPL and the broadcaster Pat Nevin, among others.
Next month we are holding a follow-up "second leg" event on the relationship between community football clubs and social & economic regeneration. The purpose of this second event is to bring together community football clubs and relevant regeneration organisations in a mutually supportive exchange of experience, plans and ideas. The one-day conference will feature presentations from relevant policy-makers and practitioners, themed discussion groups and a plenary questions and comments panel session. It will take place in Kilmarnock Football Club's Rugby Park Stadium and Park Hotel on Wednesday 20th August 2008.
