In partnership with esd toolkit, Scottish councils have developed a portfolio of interlinked tools to help councils arrange their website information more efficiently, and help people to find what they are looking for. The tools are designed to be used interdependently, but can also be used as standalone products.

The Scottish Service List (SSL), linked to the Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) provides a common taxonomy for councils to describe their services, and this is reflected in the Scottish Navigation List (SNL), a model website structure that includes all terms in the service list. FAQs and forms are provided, linked to website content via the service list, and a model A-Z (SAZ) ties them all together and assists users in finding information.

These resources (SNL, SSL, SAZ, FAQs) FAQ Template FAQ Templateto registered users on the esd toolkit website, where all users are encouraged to contribute towards these tools ongoing development. There are accompanying guidance notes and other "how-to" resources that have been developed to support the use of these, and a final report that summarises lessons learnt from creation and implementation of these resources.

Almost all councils in Scotland are already or are planning to use the SSL and SNL, and other public sector websites including the OneScotland portal will also build on this work.
