Collaborative Gain PDF Print

Collaborative Gain (CG) is about ensuring that any partnership activities bring about added value benefits, which would not have been possible by individual organisations operating on their own.

These added value benefits can take a number of forms, including efficiency savings, more integrated service delivery and improved outcomes for service users.

The IS is committed to supporting councils and their partners in developing and improving collaborative approaches to working. Our activities include:

  • Undertaking a study to examine and further develop the concept of collaborative gain in partnerships. A project exploring collaborative gain in Aberdeen City, Inverclyde and West Lothian Councils was completed in September 2008. The learning from this, as well as a review of published material on the subject, drawing from both the public and private sectors, has been made available to all Scottish councils.
  • Supporting the Community Planning Partnerships/Collaborative Gain community of practice.
  • Promoting the use of PSIF in Collaborative Gain.
  • Drafting a Corporate Governance toolkit and piloting its use
