A half-day workshop for planning authorities on

Neighbour Notification: Practical Points & Lessons So Far

The event will provide background to the changes in policies and legislation that will require notification of neighbours to be undertaken by planning authorities. It will also touch upon some of the issues around community engagement and Pan 81.

It will draw on the experience and lessons learnt from neighbour notification by authorities in England and Wales, with a particular focus on what is considered to be good practice there and the (many) pitfalls. It will consider the practical implications of implementation in Scotland including such matters as the information to be sent to neighbours. The session will provide an opportunity for participants to work in small groups to explore neighbour notification procedures in the workplace in more detail.

Sue Glover BA MCD MRTPI Chartered Town Planner, Principal of Urbanplanning UK and Senior Associate with TRA will facilitate the event. Having been an independent planning consultant since 1986, Sue undertakes a full range of work relating to applications, appeals, inquiries, hearings etc. She previously worked for a variety of District and County authorities, specialising in development control. She currently combines her consultancy work with lecturing in environmental management and planning practice at Liverpool John Moore’s University as well as presenting a range of TRA sessions for councillors and officers.

There are 20 places available for each of these events. Places on the courses are £50.00 per delegate; places will be reserved on a first come basis.
