With over 1500 groups and over 110,000 members, the Knowledge Hub (KHub) is now the UK’s largest online public sector collaboration platform. From ‘Active Citizens’ to ‘Workforce Scotland’, there are groups encompassing hundreds of subject areas. How can you make sure you are visible in such a vast number of members?
One way is to complete your KHub profile and give yourself a chance to be recognised and to network with other practitioners and experts in your field.
Having a complete profile lets other members see who you are, helps to build trust and can help other participants ‘put a name to a face’. Completing your profile may also help other participants feel more comfortable about taking part in online discussions and may even encourage them to fill out their profiles too!
The KHub platform can also use the information in your profile to suggest content that may be of interest to you, such as blogs, forum posts and documents.
So how do you edit your profile? After logging into the KHub, you will see your name presented under the search bar on the top–right of the screen. Clicking on your name will present a menu; one of the options is ‘Edit profile’.
The screen will refresh and you will be presented with a series of options down the left-hand side. The options on offer are: ‘general’, ‘login details’, ‘social media’, ‘profile picture’ and ‘privacy’.
The screen defaults to the ‘general’ option and presents a series of boxes to complete, rather like an online form. Filling out as much detail as possible will help KHub recommend accurate content to you. Don’t forget to click on the ‘save’ button to keep your details stored.
The ‘login details’ screen allows you to change your email address and add in any additional ones you want to be notified on. You can also change your password from this screen.
The ‘social media’ screen lets you add in your social media account names and these are displayed on your profile.
The ‘profile picture’ screen lets you change or delete your profile photo. We encourage you to include a photo as it lets others put a name to a face.
Finally, the ‘privacy’ option lets you control who can see your details on the platform. There are a range of options you can control, including your email address, photograph and biography details, among others. You can decide to limit viewing to your connections, to site members or open to the public.
It really is that easy, and once you have completed your profile, it is even easier to keep it up to date! Just click ‘edit profile’ again at any time and update the detail in the boxes, then click on ‘save’ to store your update. So, go on, update your profile today and make some new connections.
