IS shortlisted for national planning award


The Spatial Information Service at the Improvement Service has been shortlisted for a national planning award by the Scottish Government.


The Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning celebrate achievements in planning and projects have been shortlisted from more than 50 entries.


The IS have been shortlisted in the ‘Process’ category for creating ‘A national spatial hub for digital planning data.’


The next stage of the process will see interviews and site visits undertaken which will take place after the Summer.


Iain McKay, Head of Spatial Information commented: “The Spatial Hub has currently over 35 national datasets available, including planning and housing datasets, which have been identified by the Geospatial Commission as being of significant value to the UK economy.”


A final decision will be made by Scottish Ministers, however, a public vote (the People’s Choice) of the final 35 projects is being held until the 30th of September 2019.
