Case study into use of SPC to help in process improvement in Cancer Services
A Policy Brief on Thriving Rural Communities: Outcomes, Indicators and Service Standards (June 2006). The main outcome of a seminar organised in collaboration with the Highland Wellbeing Alliance and UHI PolicyWeb (policies fit for the Highlands and Islands), and funded by Highland Council.
This piece of research intends to develop our understanding of social exclusion and deprivation in Shetland, and other remote rural areas. This increased understanding at a local level can be used to inform local policy and delivery to better target resources, and support and thereby reduce inequalities and genuinely improve the day-to-day lives of people living in Shetland. It can also feed into discussions about how these issues can be addressed at Highlands and Islands and national levels.
The evaluation report on the Activity Motivation Initiative scheme implemented across all primary schools within East Ayrshire Council, which focused upon the physical health and well being of children within the communities that comprise East Ayrshire.
An evaluation report entitled 'Promoting Health Improvement and Tackling Health Inequalities: Local Authority Perspectives - Evaluation of a Pack for Trainers (2003)' that examined the training pack devised to support capacity building efforts at local authority level in promoting and delivering the Health Improvement agenda.

The overall aim of this research paper is to provide evidence to support local authorities to identify, monitor and improve the impact of their services and activities in relation to improving health and reducing health inequalities.
