This pamphlet from the Local Government Information Unit think tank looks at how local authorities are using the web to strengthen local democracy, transform public services, promote sustainability and engage young people in democratic activity. It also identifies lessons learned from council's use of web technologies so far and how things may look in the future.
North Lanarkshire Council's style guide outlines the brand guidelines of the council and how these should be applied visually across all publications. The document is recognised as an example of good practice in this area. The document is still a work-in-progress and will be added to over time.
This document provides detailed instructions on how to phrase and write FAQs for the web. It has also been used to assist with writing general content for the web as the principles remain the same - clear, concise information written in a conversational, accessible, first person style. It is useful for web authors, managers, customer service frontline staff, and anyone giving training to people who have to write content as well as anyone with an interest in writing for the internet. This document is an output from the Scottish A-Z and knowledgebase (KB) project that ran from April 2006-Mar 2007 with lead councils Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.
Writing FAQs for the web requires some understanding of what information should be included. This document outlines some key fields and gives an example of a completed FAQ including providing contact information, service (SSL) descriptors, external website addresses, GIS location and of course, the question and answer pairs. This document is an output from the Scottish A-Z and knowledgebase (KB) project that ran from April 2006-Mar 2007 with lead councils Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.
