mark mcateerMark leads the Governance and Performance Management Team which delivers across a range of areas ranging from the development of Single Outcome Agreements to supporting elected member development.  The team also develops and promotes performance management through the Public Service Improvement Framework, Collaborative Gain, the IS Peer Review Programme and the Equalities and Sustainability Programmes.

Prior to joining the Improvement Service, Mark was the Director of Research and Post Graduate Studies in the Scottish Local Authorities Management Centre (SLMAC) at the University of Strathclyde.  During almost 10 years at SLAMC Mark worked extensively with Scottish Local Government and other public services and internationally with local authorities from across Europe and Africa.  Mark has published widely within academic journals and has presented to many UK and international conferences on a range of topics relating to local government.

Mark graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1989 with a BA (Hons) in Politics, and a PhD in Politics in 1994.
