The One Scotland Gazetteer is a single database of land and property for Scotland.  It currently contains around 3.2 million property records covering the whole of Scotland and supports an increasing number of applications.  These include ePlanning, both online application and appeals, which provides easy to use forms to submit planning applications, reviews and appeals.  It currently processes around 1,000 online applications per month and the Online Local Development Plans.

The One Scotland Gazetteer also supports the Homebuyers Pack, allowing the Energy Savings Trust to issue more than 20,000 domestic Energy Performance Certificates each month.

All Scottish public sector organisations are entitled to use the One Scotland Gazetteer and a programme has been underway over the last 18 months to migrate them gradually from other sources of addressing.  The preferred channel of access is via web services, although others are offered.

BENEFITS OF THE ONE SCOTLAND GAZETTEER

  • Faster, more efficient public services;
  • Potential to support multiple e-government applications;
  • Single database provides economies of scale.
