The Public Service Improvement Framework (Phase 1) was formally inaugurated on Monday 4 December 2006 in West Lothian Council Chambers. This seminar culminated from the work undertaken since the launch of PSIF in September, attended by over 150 delegates.

The organisations that expressed an interest in being part of Phase 1 were reviewed for ‘state of readiness’ to proceed. Following this, the following public service providers will now take forward Phase 1:

  • The City of Edinburgh Council
  • Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service
  • Stirling Council and Clackmannanshire Council
  • Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service
Alex Linkston, Chief Executive of West Lothian Council, welcomed all the participants who will form Phase 1 of PSIF and placed emphasis on the benefits: that it enables the organisation to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, which will inform annual planning and define improvement initiatives that are monitored and measured over a specific period of time.

Phase 1 will include an ongoing evaluation process, with reports on progress published through newsletters, websites and networked interest groups. The organisations will also be represented on the PSIF Project Board,  joining the current members -  West Lothian Council, the Improvement Service, Investors in People Scotland and Quality Scotland.
