The annual e-Government National Awards recognise public services which, through innovative online delivery or IT implementation, have positively transformed the lives of citizens, local communities, business and stakeholder groups. The original 543 entrants have been whittled down to 89 finalists in 11 categories covering central government, local government and other public sector bodies.
The Scottish finalists include:
- Fife Council - finalist in two categories for its public private partnership applying video route technology to rubbish collection and disposal routes (e-Government excellence: Shared Services) and its supply teacher messaging service (Local e-Government Excellence: Strategy );
- Dundee City Council, whose Digital Dundee is shortlisted in the Local e-Government Excellence: Take-up and the Local e-Government Excellence: Strategy categories;
- Scottish Borders Council - nominated for two awards (e-Government excellence: Education and Local e-Government excellence: Team) for Online Borders, the community grid for learning;
- East Lothian Council - National Performance Management Framework strategy shortlisted for the Local e-Government Excellence: Strategy award;
- City of Edinburgh Council - eAuction project for temporary staff in Health and Social Care Homes across the City shortlisted in the Local e-Government excellence: Efficiency category.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 17 January 2007.
