The awards recognise excellence in local government across 16 categories. The Scottish local authorities included among the 97 finalists are:
- Renfrewshire Council, which is shortlisted for Best Achievement in Children's Services
- Fife Council for Facilities and Asset Management Achievement
- South Lanarkshire Council for Customer Service Achievement
- City of Edinburgh Council for Pay & Workforce Achievement
- East Ayrshire Council for Promoting Active Communities Achievement
- West Dunbartonshire Council for Public Protection Achievement
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 26 June 2008.
