The IS has been working with three councils - Aberdeen City, Inverclyde and West Lothian - on a study that seeks to identify best practice in Collaborative Gain.

Collaborative Gain (CG) is about ensuring that any partnership activities bring about added value benefits, which would not have been possible by individual organisations operating on their own.

These added value benefits can take a number of forms, including efficiency savings, more integrated service delivery and improved outcomes for service users.

The study includes a review of published material on the subject, drawing from both the public and private sectors. It also highlights a number of cases studies, drawn from Community Planning Partnership activities within each of the three council areas.

The IS CG study is due to be published in mid-September 2008 and will include a practical checklist for those who are seeking to maximise CG in their partnership activities.
