The new version of the Public Service Improvement Framework (PSIF), the holistic self-assessment tool developed by West Lothian Council, Quality Scotland and Investors in People Scotland, was launched at a PSIF Best Practice event on 23 January.

Integrating the new Customer Service standard (which replaces Charter Mark), the Framework has been enhanced to incorporate a greater focus on service delivery, customer consultation and insight, performance management and delivering services efficiently and effectively. It retains its links to the EFQM Excellence Model, the Investors in People Standard and the principles of Best Value.

The revised framework will be showcased at an PSIF Open Event on 19 March 2008 in Glasgow to mark the culmination of Phase One of the PSIF. As well as revealing details of the new Framework and plans for taking PSIF forward, Phase One organisations, which included Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils, City of Edinburgh Council, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue and Learndirect Scotland, will be sharing their experiences and outcomes. Speakers will include Councillor Pat Watters, President, COSLA; Caroline Gardner, Deputy Auditor General and Controller of Audit; and a senior member of the Scottish Government.

For further information about the event, contact Tom McHugh on 01506 775558. If you want to know more about PSIF, visit the community of practice at http://communities.idea.gov.uk/c/895153/home.do
