The presentations and discussion group notes from this LARIA event held on 9th Jan 2008 are now available in the LARIA document library. A summary of the event is available at http://www.laria.gov.uk/laria/aio/663531.
Also, an update from Julie Wilson, deputy chief statistician at SG:
"Please find attached a set of useful e-mail links mentioned in my talk last week - all of which LARIA colleagues may have but it might just be handy to have them in one place. They are:-
1. The front page of the High Level summary of Statistics, together with
an illustrated drill down to GDP
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/
http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Economy/TrendLatestGDP
2. The Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics website - which was subject of
a major redesign that went live last February, and which is now being
updated with a new style of report (over and above the compare tow
areas, trends over time etc) that we anticipated would be useful for
Outcome Agreements and current have in the test environment. I really
hope this will save everyone a huge amount of work as we can put all of
the relevant data in the one place (with all the flexibility of
comparisons and trends) once the information sets are agreed.
3. The Technical Notes for SR07 - which I expect LARIA colleagues will
be looking through for their own work on SOAs just now. We hope to work
with Local Government and the IS on developing an agreed set of proxy
indicators for those that are derived from National level surveys -
again to avoid duplication and to ensure people do not feel they have to
boost up these surveys locally just for this purpose as this might not
be the most cost effective solution.

Also attached (below) is a cut down excel version of our Sources and Outputs
Database - which we compiled across the SG Statistician Group so we knew
what was available and for our own National Statistics Accreditation and
other audit type functions. This version, which we shared with the IS
for their work on local indicators, was produced a while back now and so
is in the process of being updated. We have given the Statistician
Group till end of March to complete their updates - as this will tie in
nicely with the new Statistics Board coming into being on 1 April, and
with your own interests for SOAs. I can send you and update once it is
complete. I also hope it will just be of general interest to your
members - and that this will increase the use and hence usefulness of
this information in Local Government circles. All outputs are published
on the web site in our High Level Summary of Statistics.
