Aberdeenshire Council is to trial new service points for customers, giving them face to face access to more services throughout Aberdeenshire.
The service points will complement the Council's telephone Contact Centre, which opened in November 2006, providing customers with a first point of call to a range of services managed and co-ordinated centrally.
The vision is to create 12 service points located across Aberdeenshire in towns of greatest population, developed in existing council buildings. The effectiveness of these pilots will be evaluated and will inform the rollout of the rest of the sites over a number of years.
Customers visiting the service points will be able to access a range of services in one place, including enquiries about roads, waste, council tax and housing.
Councillors on Aberdeenshire Council's Policy and Resources Committee agreed to proceed with the plans as part of the council's overall approach to customer service.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Anne Robertson: "This project demonstrates our increased commitment to delivering high quality customer service. We are listening to our customers who have told us that they want to be able to access all services locally and in a single place.
"This is an exciting development and builds on the success of the telephone Contact Centre which has already demonstrated major improvements in dealing with customer enquiries and working with services to propose improvements based on customer feedback."
