The Government's strategy on participatory budgeting - providing local people with an opportunity to influence how money is spent in their area - has been issued.
Giving more people a say: Participatory budgeting - a National Strategy sets out an overview of how the government will work towards its ambition for participatory budgeting to be used in every English local authority area by 2012.
Although the strategy relates to English local authorities only, the document contains ideas and examples of community engagement that may be useful to Scottish public sector organisations.
