The Improvement Service hosted an event with the Social Work Inspection Agency (SWIA) in Glasgow in March on the work required to use PSIF to carry out Social Work inspections to the standard required by SWIA for future inspections. The event was attended by approx. 45 officers - both performance and social work professionals. Feedback from the event has been very positive with 96% of respondents stating that the event met all of their aims for the day.
Work has started on how the PSIF can be used to support Community Planning Partnerships in achieving their outcomes. This work will tie in to the wider Single Outcome Agreement work underway in the Improvement Service and supports the recent suggestion from the Concordat Oversight Group that CPPs now need to assess their governance and management arrangements.
The IS is also undertaking a high level mapping exercise with the PSIF and the Equalities Framework document created by the IDEA in England and Wales. The IDEA Framework has been widely consulted upon in England and Wales and has been designed to assist all public organisations in meeting their Equalities duties. We will hold an event in August to inform and share how the integration of this framework into PSIF will work in practice. There will also be a separate document created for non-PSIF organisations who are working to achieve best practice in Equalities within their own performance frameworks.
A learning event for using PSIF with other quality/improvement standards will take place on 20th May 2009. It will include practical workshops from Investors in People (IiP ) and Customer Service Excellence (CSE ) as well as another opportunity to share experiences and offer support at a PSIF Q&A session.
