A high level action plan for empowering Scotland's communities has been issued by COSLA and the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Community Empowerment Action Plan sets out what community empowerment is, why it is important and how communities become empowered. It builds on the joint statement of commitment to community empowerment made by the two organisations in April 2008.

The Plan also sets out practical steps which underpin the process of community empowerment and features 12 case studies of successful projects from across Scotland.

The Plan is now available on the Scottish Government website.
