The communities of practice platform developed by the Improvement and Development Agency, and offered to Scottish local government communities in partnership with the Improvement Service, has won an e-Government National Award 2008.

The platform won in the 'e-Government Excellence: Leadership and Professionalism' category which recognises "leading e-Government strategies and professional development which contribute to achieving positive transformation".

The awards recognise excellence across transformational e-Government projects. The other Scottish success was Fife Council, which won in the 'Local e-Government Excellence: Team' category for the Fife Child Protection Register.

For more information and a full list of winners, see the e-Government National Awards website. For a more personal angle on the win, Michael Norton, one of the IDeA team who was present at the event, has blogged about the awards success (you will need to be logged in to the communities of practice platform to see it.)
