The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) has created a series of 23 workbooks to help councillors in their ward roles as community leaders and advocates.
The Local Leadership Academy Councillor workbooks cover a broad range of generic skills as well as specific service and policy areas, and are useful to new and experienced councillors alike (please note that the workbooks dealing with policy areas may be specific to English local government).
Each workbook has been designed as a standalone unit which should take two to three hours to complete. They can be used by individual councillors for their own personal development, or with groups of councillors as part of a wider development programme.
The workbooks are provided free of charge as PDF downloads to councillors, councils and other public sector organisations.
