The qualifications - developed under Renfrewshire Council and the Improvement Service's lead - have been entered for CIPD People Management Awards 2009 and HR Network Awards 2009.
CIPD's ‘ Excellence through Technology ' category has been selected in recognition of the way technology can impact on successful HR practice. The qualifications are accessed, delivered and assessed online. They are also designed to be light-touch with minimum administration centrally and at the point of delivery.
A second award submission has been made under HR Network's Strategic People Development Project of the Year category. Here, the judges are looking for initiatives which have successfully delivered a significant strategic people development project with a sustained high level of excellence.
The Qualifications are focused on improving staff knowledge, interpersonal and attitudinal skills and they offer a real opportunity to contribute to:
- improved customer satisfaction levels
- improved levels of employee engagement, morale and confidence
- reduced staff turnover levels resulting in recruitment cost savings and the retention of the best candidates
- reduced costs of reworking costs by achieving a higher resolution of enquiries at the first point of contact
The consortium of Scottish councils behind the qualifications' development should be justifiably proud of their roles in developing these new professional qualifications and keenly await the award judges' decisions.
