West Lothian Council (WLC) has been awarded the Recognised for Excellence 5 star by Quality Scotland, using the Levels of Excellence programme. The award follows a five-day site visit by EFQM Excellence Award assessors.

Levels of Excellence is a European Recognition Scheme based on the EFQM Excellence Model run by Quality Scotland.

West Lothian was the founding council behind the Public Service Improvement Framework, a self-assessment framework which incorporates the EFQM Excellence Model as well as the Investors in People and Customer Service Excellence Standards, and Best Value principle.

In an email to staff, Chief Executive Alex Linkston said: "This is a fantastic achievement and I want to personally extend my sincere congratulations and thanks to all who participated in the week. The assessors were effusive in their praise of all the WLC staff they met, the locations they visited and people they interviewed."
