The first PSIF Review Event was held on 10th December 2010 and was attended by over 70 officers from the majority of the PSIF organisations. The aim of the event was to give PSIF officers the opportunity to provide feedback on the framework itself, the support and training that they are provided with and to input to discussions on links between PSIF and outcomes, audit and inspection.
The Event opened with a keynote speech from Colin Mair, Chief Executive of the Improvement Service. Colin outlined the progress made by the PSIF Partnership to date, the current challenges facing the public sector and the importance of self-evaluation in addressing these challenges and opportunities
The Chair of the PSIF Operational Board, Mark McAteer, then outlined some potential development areas for PSIF in 2010/2011, including strengthening the framework to reflect the current political, economic and environmental climate; clarifying officer and elected member roles in leadership; reducing the number of statements to address duplication; simplifying the language used; considering the gaps between PSIF and the characteristics of a BV2 council; and considering whether PSIF should be reviewed to reflect EFQM Excellence Model review changes.
Delegates were then asked to consider and prioritise the changes they would like to see made to the PSIF.

The remainder of the day was allocated to workshops on the support available to PSIF officers from the IS and the wider PSIF Partnership, training and support from Quality Scotland and Investors in People Scotland, links to the new audit and inspection regimes and the links between self-evaluation and outcomes. At each of the workshops, a list of potential action points for PSIF development during 2010/2011 was agreed by delegates, for consideration by the PSIF Operational Board at a concluding plenary session.
