The Improvement Service (IS) has published its business plan for 2007-2008. The plan is built around three core themes:
These themes also support the national programmes managed by the Improvement Service - Customer First and the National Shared Services Programme. It is anticipated that the 2007-2008 business plan will enable the IS to focus on work that delivers collective benefits to all Scottish councils whilst also allowing the space to respond to the needs of individual councils and partnerships. The business plan also contains details of the IS' achievements in 2006-2007 with more detail provided in a separate achievements report. The publication of the business plan coincides with a number of staff changes at the Improvement Service. Clodagh Memery, Head of Best Value, who has been with the Improvement Service since its inception, is moving to take up a new role as senior consultant at HEDRA. Paul Cowan, Head of Organisational Development and Capacity Building, is joining Dell as part of its Talent Management Team. Also joining the Improvement Service are Alan Neilson and Jane O'Donnell. Alan, who previously worked on the Audit Scotland/Best Value taskforce, joins to support our work on outcomes and collaborative gain. As Knowledge Development Advisor, Jane will focus on capture and exploitation of knowledge developed through the National Shared Services projects. Hilary Horton has been appointed to Customer First's CRM Programme as National Co-ordinator, working with participating councils and Lagan to facilitate deployment and share learning.
