The Improvement Service was set up to support improvement in the efficiency, quality and accountability of public services in Scotland through provision of advice and consultancy, project management and support for learning and sharing of knowledge. This website is intended to help elected members, officers and practitioners to share their views and experiences and to access information and resources on issues that concern and affect Scottish local government and the drive for improvement.

Update on IS consultancy framework PDF Print

The Improvement Service is in the process of conducting a tendering exercise for Consultancy Services to draw on a wide range of expertise in areas we think are key to local authorities. Our aim is to strengthen our delivery capacity by actively procuring a "network of associates", which will be made available for use by our local government partners.

We are looking for a wide spectrum of organisations and individuals with the necessary skills and expertise and have encouraged bids from SME's and not-for-profit organisations. The contract will run for three years with a possible extension of another year.

We successfully ran a number of events to ensure potential associates have a grasp of our requirements and the key challenges facing local government moving forward. We have received over 200 notes of interest.

Further information will be provided once the tendering exercise is complete, likely to be some time in November.
