Customer Service: the cavalry is on the horizon |

Front-line staff across Scottish Local Government stand bravely face-to-face with a full spectrum of citizens, tasked with connecting them to the full range of services provided councils. These brave souls can now look forward to the imminent arrival of support in the form of the Customer Service Professional Qualifications.
Developed by councils, for councils, these have been designed to be flexible enough to allow staff to study at their own convenience, developing their customer service skills and providing them with nationally recognised qualifications to Award, Certificate, and soon Diploma levels. The skills gained from these qualifications will not only ease the pressure on customer-facing staff, but will enhance the public's perception of their councils, both as providers of essential services, and as an employer of choice.
The Customer Service Professional Qualifications have been developed by a consortium of Scottish Local Authorities, and represent a major investment in training for staff in Scottish Local Authorities, in line with the Customer First programme goals.
