There are seven modules for authorities to choose from including:

• Introduction to Design Principles 
• Developing Design Policies 
• Master Planning 
• Design Statements 
• Design Review 
• Design at Appeal 
• Residential Streets, inclusive design and sustainable design and construction

The training will be developed by a range of design and planning experts, and will mainly be delivered in-house for authorities. The workshops will be open to planning officers and any other relevant staff identified by authorities, such as roads engineers. Some of the modules will also be offered as open national events for officers from planning authorities.

The design awareness training will also be available to elected members. The workshops are intended to be the start of a learning process which will result in increased confidence in dealing with design issues with applicants, elected members and communities.
