Local authorities are providing monthly extracts of their gazetteer datasets to keep the National Gazetteer current and demand for this national dataset continues to grow.
The migration to BS7666:2006 is stepping up in Scotland. Seven of the 32 authorities have already migrated their data to the new standard, with more to follow over the summer. In parallel, an EU procurement exercise is underway for the development of a BS7666:2006 compliant National Gazetteer.
The first phase of the Scottish Gazetteer Conventions work is complete following wide stakeholder consultation. The second phase has now begun and a new draft of the conventions will be published for review in July-August. The National Gazetteer is in the process of being matched with the National Entitlement Card dataset. These smart cards provide the public with an easy way to access services such as the Scotland-wide concessionary travel scheme. The goal is for each card record to be linked to a gazetteer address record to create a standardised account within the National Infrastructure. |
