The Improvement Service has made a number of project management tools available for use by local authorities and partner organisations.
The tools are intended for use in the initial planning stages of a project. Separate versions for minor and major projects which take account of size, complexity, differing structures and governance arrangements have been produced. The Business Case Management Template is designed to assist organisations in the development of a business case which effectively describes the values to be obtained from a particular project, taking into account benefits, risks, costs and timescales. The Project Initiation Document Template is designed to assist organisations in the identification and measurement of processes, activities and outputs that significantly affect the project in terms of total process efficiency, effectiveness, quality, timeliness and productivity.
