| Seven councils to pilot councillor CPD framework |

Seven Scottish councils are to pilot a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Framework for Elected Members following a consultation by the Improvement Service earlier this year.
Aberdeenshire, East Lothian, Falkirk, Fife, South Ayrshire, Scottish Borders and West Dunbartonshire will begin implementation of the draft CPD Framework in Autumn 2008 after expressing an interest in doing so during the consultation. The key objectives of the pilot project are to:
The design and development of the development modules and e-learning packages will run in parallel with the piloting of the Framework in the seven councils. The implementation of the CPD Framework will be fully evaluated prior to it being launched nationally for use by all councils.
