Equality Impact Assessment Toolkit Training PDF Print

Argyll and Bute Council has produced an Award-winning Equality Impact Assessment Toolkit and the Improvement Service has agreed to support a training day in the central belt for councils that want to use the toolkit.


The toolkit was circulated to local authorities in September and several councils expressed an interest in using it. In Argyll and Bute, half-day training sessions have been delivered to familiarise officers with the process. Those attending these sessions gave very positive feedback and most people commented that the process was much easier to use than they had anticipated.

Shared Services Community now live PDF Print

The National Shared Services community website is now live at www.improvementservice.org.uk/shared-services. This website provides a way to share information on the National Shared Services Programme and to support local authorities to take forward projects in the National portfolio. We will also be issuing a Shared Services newletter - to receive your copy of this, please update your subscriptions.

Journey of self-discovery for local government leaders PDF Print
Future leaders in Scottish local government are being taken through a journey of self-awareness and improvement as part of the Top Executive Development Pilot Programme from the Improvement Service.

The first 11 participants in the Programme are currently receiving executive coaching aimed at helping them develop the skills and qualities needed to drive forward transformation in their organisations.

The Disability Equality Duty - how it affects local authorities PDF Print

In a few weeks time, the Disability Equality Duty (DED) for the public sector comes into force - something which will have a major impact on the way public services throughout Scotland are run.

From 4 December all public authorities in Scotland have to develop policies, procedures and services that not only combat discrimination but actively promote disability equality.
