COSLA/Improvement Service Annual Conference 2011 - 9-11 March 2011, St Andrews

The 2011 COSLA and Improvement Service Annual Conference takes place following the worst financial settlement for Scotland since devolution. Appropriately entitled 'Rising to the Challenge: Protecting our Communities and Services', the Conference will give us the opportunity to debate the future facing Scottish local government and the wider public sector and the major challenges of operating effectively for communities and service users amid the worst recession in generations.

The new economic reality: delivering services in a constrained public spending environment - 16 March 2011, Edinburgh

When John Swinney MSP delivered the draft budget of the Scottish Government for 2011-2012 in November, a key message was that the reduced budget highlighted the need for reform of service delivery. This conference brings together some of the UK's most innovative and forward thinking public sector leaders and public policy practitioners to debate how we continue to deliver services at a standard comparable to, or better than, that which the country has enjoyed over recent years. The Improvement Service has negotiated a special rate for local authorities of £99 for this conference.
