Events

Spending now to save later: progressing the preventative spend agenda -3 June 2011, Edinburgh

Spending on prevention and intervention programmes is not a new concept and is widely accepted by many as the best economic and social long term investment, reducing dependency on, and by extension cost to, services in later years.

The Scottish Parliament's Finance Committee has firmly backed the approach, stating that public bodies must "work more closely together on tackling the root cause of social problems rather than merely managing them".

This Holyrood event will provide the opportunity to engage with some of those leading the rally call and hear about some of the successful prevention and intervention programmes being implemented across the country, before looking at how to realistically progress the prevention and intervention approach.

Planning reform in Scotland - 21 June 2011, Edinburgh

The Planning etc (Scotland) Act 2006 seeks to radically change Scotland's planning system, making it more efficient, inclusive, fit for purpose and sustainable. Five years since the landmark Act was passed, Holyrood's Planning Reform in Scotland event will ask how far we have come in realising these ambitions.
