Events

Channel shift workshop: preparing services for online access – 6 December 2011, Edinburgh

Offering customers increased online access to services – and improving take-up levels – demands a focus on the underlying performance, design and delivery of key services. An East Dunbartonshire Council-led project - run in conjunction with several councils and the Improvement Service - has used systems-thinking methodology to review existing processes and identify improvements to services affecting a wide range of customers.

This free workshop – open to all Scottish councils – will showcase the project's approach, key findings and learning points, as well to show how the methodology used can be applied to other local authorities and other services.

Economic development in Scotland – 13 December 2011, Edinburgh

This event is aimed at providing information and advice to help councils improve their economic development activity, including the terms of the new Business Gateway contract, and discuss how to drive forward the wider aim of stimulating the Scottish economy and creating new wealth across the nation.

Dr Andrew McGuire, author of the 'Local Authorities' Economic Development Improvement Guide', recently published by the Improvement Service in association with SLAED and the Scottish Government, will be delivering the opening address.
