Peter Russian is the Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland, and has overall responsibility for the long-term growth of Investors in People in Scotland.
Since taking up this position Peter had led the development of a long term vision for Investors in People in Scotland, helping to establish a key role for Investors in People in improving productivity and performance in Scottish organisations. In this role he works closely with the Scottish Executive, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and with stakeholders including CBI Scotland, CIPD and the STUC.
On a day to day basis Peter works directly with organisations of all types and size which provides an excellent insight and understanding of leadership and management issues across Scotland. He is responsible for a team of 65, with 20 full time employees based at Ocean Point in Leith and 45 associates.
He is a non executive Director of the Centre for Enterprise, the UK’s leading skills and enterprise think tank, a member of the CBI Council for Scotland, a National Training Award judge, and a member of the Common Purpose Advisory Panel. He also represents Scotland on the UK Advisory Panel on Leadership and Management.
Previously Peter was Director of Development at Investors in People UK. He was responsible for the review of the Investors in People Standard in April 2000. He was also instrumental in the international growth of Investors in People – now covering more than 25 countries.
He joined IIPUK in 1997 from the Management Charter Initiative where he was responsible for a number of programmes aimed at raising awareness and commitment to management development in the UK.
A Public Administration graduate from Sheffield Polytechnic, Peter has also worked for Westminster City Council and London Underground.
He lives in Edinburgh, and his married to Nicola; they have a son Louis born in September 2007 and a Labrador, Harvey.
