During January 2019, the Improvement Service funded technical software training for Scottish local authority staff to assist with the management of their street and property data.
The training was provided to 16 local authorities. It forms part of an ongoing commitment from the Improvement Service to councils to assist in managing their gazetteers and other key datasets for the benefit of local and national users of the information.
In facilitating and funding these sessions we have reduced these training costs by around 65% (saving thousands of pounds).
The gazetteers contain authoritative data relating to the maintenance of streets and technical information notifying of road work requirements, along with official addresses. The data is used throughout the Scottish public sector.
The training sessions focused on IDOX software, although training in other vendors’ systems shall be provided later in the year.
