Benchmarking for Improvement Toolkit

E-mail Print PDF
This toolkit was developed in response to findings from research undertaken by the ABC Benchmarking Partnership. Managers in local authorities thought benchmarking was important but they sometimes experienced practical barriers when undertaking it.  The toolkit aims to address some of the issues raised by the research through provision of opportunities for self-learning as well as facilitated learning to develop practical knowledge and skills. The toolkit includes:

1. An introduction to the toolkit and reading and reference material for anyone to use.
  (i) Introduction to the benchmarking resource materials (pdf)
(ii) Pre-course reading and reference materials (please note that this is an extract from the full Participants' Resource Pack that accompanies the training events. Only links to the pages included in the extract are therefore active. The full document is provided at the participative events where additional concepts and skills are developed).

2. Resources for public sector trainers (or other public sector facilitators responsible for benchmarking training) which are available to local authority performance and planning professionals only by contacting the ABC Benchmarking Partnership:

  (i) Trainers' Resource Pack (pdf)
  (ii) Pre-course Assessment Form (pdf)
  (iii) Presentation Slides (MS PowerPoint)
  (iv) Presentation Handouts (pdf)
  (v) Participants' Resource Pack (Pdf - hyperlinked)
(vi) Customisable Templates (MS Word - fully customisable).

If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Cochlan or any other member of the ABC Benchmarking Partnership.

We hope you find the toolkit helpful and we look forward to hearing about your benchmarking activities.
