The aim of these pages is to provide ready access to the knowledge that the Improvement Service is drawing together from recent and ongoing research into successful change activity. There is a significant amount of very good information available on the internet that is relevant to this subject area and throughout this section we have provided links to this, rather than duplicate information unnecessarily.
This web resource will evolve over time as our research continues and our learning increases in the course of providing hands-on support. We would very much welcome your feedback as to how we can make it better support your needs.
There are two main sections to this resource. The first relates to the Change Capability Model which is used to draw together the findings from our research into the factors that are key for the successful delivery of efficiency focused change. The second section provides information on the different approaches to change being adopted by councils and public bodies across the UK and some of the specific options being chosen to deliver the necessary cost savings. Crucially, this seeks to link approaches to change with the critical success factors necessary for successful implementation.
