A Fairer Local Tax - Scottish Government Publishes Submissions
The Scottish Government has now published its analysis and summary of 516 responses received to the consultation on its proposals to introduce a local income tax. The 96 page document assesses the response to each consultation question can be accessed here.
CIPFA Gives Evidence to the Calman Commission
The Calman Commission which was set up to look at devolved powers in Scotland has held its latest evidence session at the Scottish Parliament. Angela Scott, Head of CIPFA in Scotland was called to give evidence to the Calman Commission on Tuesday 14th October following CIPFA's earlier written submission. The session explored borrowing powers, taxation and scrutiny of public expenditure by Parliament. CIPFA's written submission can be viewed here.
CIPFA Scottish News - September Edition
CIPFA Scottish News is issued quarterly. Scottish Social Services Council - Request for Audit Committee Member
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is responsible for registering people who work in social services in Scotland and for regulating their education and training. There are around 139,000 social service workers in Scotland, providing care and support to some of the most vulnerable sections of society. The SSSC is currently seeking a volunteer qualified accountant to co-opt onto its Audit Committee. The Audit Committee meets 4 times a year at SSSC's headquarters in Dundee. The position is not remunerated.
