Extended role for Community Wardens

Community Wardens across East Lothian are in the frontline in supporting local communities during the coronavirus pandemic, helping to enforce social distancing regulations.

The high-visibility officers are continuing to investigate their more usual complaints including graffiti, fly-tipping, residential noise, littering and dog fouling; however, in recent weeks they have extended their service to support Police Scotland in the enforcement of social distancing regulations by providing advice to members of the public in towns and villages throughout the county.

They are also working with other council departments to ensure that social distancing guidance is being complied with on retail premises.

The seven strong team is currently also supporting local resilience efforts in delivering public donations to the local foodbank as well as assisting with the delivery of essential supplies to vulnerable members of East Lothian’s communities.
