We all borrow money at some point, this is not necessarily a ‘bad thing’ and at the micro level many of us manage debt very well and sensibly. However, for those on the lowest incomes, borrowing is not always a discretionary activity, and they can pay a high, sometimes crippling, price.

The high cost of credit is not a subject which we can ignore and has been defined as a key component of financial exclusion, as well as a significant contributor to the poverty premium.

In this event, Sharon MacPherson, Chief Executive Officer at Scotcash, will explore what affordable credit is, why it is important and how it can complement traditional financial inclusion interventions such as benefits and debt advice.
