‘Young People have the right to express their views freely and have their opinions listened to in all matters affecting them.’ United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 12

Elected Members are invited to join this special event which will focus on the voice of children and young people in democracy and decision making in Scotland.

Join the conversation as we talk to Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament about the reasons they got involved in the Scottish Youth Parliament, why they feel their voice is important and the priority issues that they are working on!

Also hear from Cathy McCulloch, Director of the Children’s Parliament to hear about their work to hear the voices of children in Scotland and the importance of including children in decision making.

This interactive event will also provide Elected Members with the opportunity to learn more about and ask questions about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child which has recently become part of the Scottish legal framework.
