In recognition of the importance of adopting a whole-system, cross-policy approach to improving outcomes for vulnerable people and communities, the Improvement Service has developed the Protecting People team.
Bringing together, and building on, our existing work streams on tackling violence against women and girls and adopting a trauma-informed approach, the Protecting People team will offer strategic support for local authorities and their community planning partners to improve outcomes for people affected by all forms of gender-based violence and/or psychological trauma.
As part of this programme of work, the IS will continue to coordinate the National Violence Against Women (VAW) Network and the Trauma Champions Network. Other projects will include work to support local authorities and community planning partners to embed the voices of lived experience in system and service design processes. The Protecting People team works closely with other programmes across the IS, including colleagues supporting the delivery of the Fairer Scotland Duty and local child poverty action reports.
