Simple terms explainer

Councils must prepare and offer Adult Carer Support Plans (ACSPs) to anyone who provides unpaid care for another adult. An ACSP is a conversation and written plan that looks at the carer’s own needs, wellbeing, and goals—not just the needs of the person they care for. It helps identify what support, services, or advice could make caring easier and improve the carer’s quality of life. The plan should be offered to all adult carers, whether they care for a few hours or full-time, and it must be tailored to the carer’s individual situation.
